Renee Walker
Renée Walker, associate vice president of university communications for Central Michigan University as a member of the CMU President’s cabinet, brings more than 25 years of executive-level communications experience to CMU in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. As the chief communications officer for the university, Walker oversees CMU’s publicity, promotion and marketing strategies and is responsible for the protection and advancement of the university’s brand and reputation.
 
Walker came to CMU in 2008 from Kelly Services Inc., a Fortune 500 company, where she led an international team of public relations professions providing proactive, strategic and crisis communications. Prior to joining Kelly Services, Walker served as executive assistant and chief of protocol for former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer’s administration, where she established the first protocol office for the city of Detroit and directed high-level initiatives, including major public events and visits by domestic and foreign dignitaries.
 
Accredited by the Public Relations Society of America, Walker was elected to the Society’s Counselors to Higher Education Executive Committee in 2009 and was appointed to a three-year term on its Board of Ethics and Professional Standards in 2008.
