CMU trustees prepare for February meeting
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich., Feb. 13, 2012 — The Central Michigan University Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings and its formal session Feb. 15 and 16 in the Bovee University Center.

Trustees will consider a number of resolutions including one that would allow the CMU athletics department to enter into an agreement with International Management Group. IMG will build on athletics initiatives to sell corporate sponsorships; leverage its media, publicity and broadcast rights for its sports teams; and generate revenue.

Under terms of the 10-year agreement, IMG would provide coverage and publicity for all CMU sports teams, at no cost to CMU, while providing athletics a guaranteed income. IMG is the largest company in the country that coordinates collegiate sports programs multi-media rights.

Another resolution seeks trustee approval allowing the university to request conveyance of land leased to the State Building Authority for construction of the Dow Science Building back to CMU. The land had been leased to the state since 1992 while bonds used to finance the construction of the facility, which provides much needed laboratory, research and academic space, were paid off.

The formal session begins at 9 a.m. Thurs., Feb. 16, in the President’s Conference Room and is open to the public.

In addition, the following committee meetings will be open to the university community and the general public on Wed., Feb. 15. All will be held in the President’s Conference Room unless otherwise noted.
