Central Michigan University has signed a reverse transfer agreement with Delta College.

The agreement allows community college students who have completed at least 24 college credits to finish their remaining credit hours for an associate's degree while attending CMU. The credits taken at CMU can be counted for both the university and Delta College.

"CMU and Delta College are partners committed to student success," said CMU President George E. Ross. "The reverse transfer agreement provides the opportunity for each of these institutions to help increase the number of people with degrees in Michigan."

The partnership assists students transferring to CMU before earning an associate's degree the chance to count CMU credits toward their associate's degree. Under the direction of the State of Michigan Public Act 62, the goal of the agreement is to increase student retention and degree completion at both community colleges and universities.

“We are excited about this partnership with CMU and the benefits of it for students,” said Delta College President Jean Goodnow. “Students who transfer short of receiving their associate degree can receive that valuable credential by using credits earned at CMU to qualify.”

CMU will notify students who transfer from Delta about this program. Once students have earned a total of 60 hours, they will be notified again and given a link to request that their CMU transcript be sent to the community college for review to confirm they have completed requirements for an associate's degree.
