CMU's online programs ranked highest among Michigan's public universities

U.S. News and World Report gives both graduate and undergraduate programs high marks
U.S News & World Report ranking
For the second consecutive year, U.S. News and World Report has given Central Michigan University high marks in its 2013 Top Online Education Program rankings. CMU’s online graduate business programs ranked No. 6 out of 213 schools offering online graduate business programs and the online graduate education programs placed No. 12 out of 208 schools on this year’s list. CMU had the highest ranking of online graduate programs of Michigan public institutions.

CMU’s online undergraduate programs placed No. 39 in this year’s report, the highest among public universities in Michigan. These high rankings, in both graduate and undergraduate programs, reflect CMU’s continued commitment to making education accessible to all.

“The fact that CMU ranked the highest of the top 10 ranked schools in the area of ‘Faculty Credentials and Training’ proves that CMU does an excellent job of preparing faculty to teach online and be as effective in teaching distance learners as we are with face-to-face students on campus,” said Merodie Hancock, vice president of CMU’s Global Campus.

The report evaluates degree-offering programs in a variety of areas including student engagement, faculty credentials and training, and student services and technology.  Admissions selectivity also factored into the rankings for online master's degree programs, and academic peer reputation was included in the calculations for business program rankings.

Hancock says rankings provide independent affirmation of CMU’s longtime focus on student success and faculty expertise and student/faculty engagement.

“The growth of CMU’s online programs, both in increased course offerings and student enrollment, highlights CMU’s commitment to providing learning environments that are of the best academic quality while offering flexibility and faculty engagement that meets the educational needs of our students,” said Hancock. “CMU also is dedicated to providing exceptional student service and technical support to our online students, just as we do at our Mt. Pleasant campus, military bases and regional centers.

CMU currently enrolls more than 10,000 students in online classes during the year. CMU has been a pioneer and an innovator in distance learning since 1971 with more than 50 locations in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

CMU also has recently been named to Military Advanced Education's 2013 list of "Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities." This is the sixth consecutive year CMU has received this designation. http://media.cmich.edu/pr/cmu/cmu-named-military-friendly-university-242706.aspx
