Academics
  • Established in 1892, Central Michigan University offers 200 academic programs at the undergraduate through doctoral levels, including nationally recognized programs in entrepreneurship, journalism, music, audiology, teacher education, psychology and physician assistant. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has classified CMU as a doctoral research university.

Enrollment
  • In the fall of 2010, CMU had record enrollment with 28,389 students – making it one of the nation’s 100 largest public universities and the fourth largest among Michigan’s 15 public universities.

Faculty
  • CMU has more than 1,000 faculty members.

Alumni
  • CMU has more than 200,000 alumni living around the world.

Locations
  • In addition to its main Mount Pleasant, Mich., campus, CMU has more than 60 locations throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico, at which more than 7,000 students are enrolled in degree programs from bachelor’s through doctoral, as well as certificate programs and individual classes.
  • CMU’s main campus spans 480 acres.
  • CMU’s facilities include 11 new academic, residential and athletic buildings within the last 11 years, including the LEED-certified Education and Human Services Building that opened in fall 2009 and the new Events Center that opened in December 2010.
