Trustees tackle money matters Tuesday

CMU Board of Trustees

The Central Michigan University Board of Trustees will be asked to approve the 2014–2015 operating budget when they meet in formal session Tuesday.

The $462 million plan includes nearly $45.6 million in scholarships and financial aid and $266 million for salaries. It shows state appropriations at $79 million.

Other items to come before the CMU trustees include:

  • A $5.7 million deferred maintenance budget for campus upkeep and repair;
  • A proposal to rename the chemistry department to the department of chemistry and biochemistry; and
  • A recommendation that a department of entrepreneurship be established in the College of Business Administration.

The board will meet as a committee of the whole Tuesday, consolidating committee meetings normally scheduled the day prior to the trustees’ formal session.

Tuesday’s meeting is open to the public and begins at 9:30 a.m. in the President’s Conference Room of the Bovee University Center.
