Sheldon Yellen, CEO of BELFOR Property Restoration, a $1.5 billion company, who was featured on CBS’ "Undercover Boss," will share his entrepreneurial story from growing up on the streets of Detroit to leading a global business at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 in Warriner Hall’s Plachta Auditorium.

The free event is hosted by Motivated Mitten, an initiative launched by Hope CMU senior Anthony Lazzaro to expose students to successful entrepreneurs in Michigan.

“A lot can be learned from listening to the success stories of others,” said Lazzaro. “So many people think you need to move out of state to build a career, but these inspiring individuals speak to the success right here in our communities.”

Speakers at the event also include CMU 2012 alumnus Jeff Wegner of Movement Creative Media. He will discuss how his business was started after earning second place in CMU’s 2012 New Venture Competition.

Ro Spit, co-owner of Burn Rubber, a sneaker and street wear store located in Royal Oak, will share his story of combining passion and innovation that led to an expansion of his brand beginning in 2007.

In bringing the event to campus, Motivated Mitten partnered with Central Michigan Life, the College of Business Administration Isabella Bank Institute for Entrepreneurship’s New Venture Competition, CMURC and Hub University.
